Since Crystal Swing were catapulted into the limelight in February 2010 there have been many high points. Their first appearance on Ireland's flagship TV programme, RTÉ's The Late Late Show, for instance, was an incredible honour while appearing with their own show in their own home venue, The Cork Opera House, before a sell out crowd was a dream come true. Even the many media interviews were a totally new experience for the popular band not to mention the sudden, huge demand for appearances from around the country and abroad.
However, their most remarkable experience to date was their trip to Hollywood, L.A. to appear in The Ellen DeGeneres Show. The show was recorded in the Warner Brothers' studios on 8th April 2010 and aired four days later. After an interview with host and American Idol judge, Ellen and a performance of 'He Drinks Tequila', Derek did his trademark Hucklebuck - moving through the audience and dancing with Ellen. The trio went down a storm with their amiable host and her enthusiastic audience who clearly enjoyed the performance as they gave the band two standing ovations.

to YouTube in January, 2010 and attracted hundreds of
thousands of views from all over the world

Having been shown the 'He Drinks Tequila' video by her producers,
top American TV chat show host and
American Idol judge,
Ellen DeGeneres,
encouraged her nearly five million followers on Twitter to check it out.

On St. Patrick's Day, 17th March 2010, Ellen featured the band in her 'Video of the Day'
and enthusiastically declared, "I like 'em"

And there you have it. In a matter of weeks, a practically unknown Irish family band consisting of two school-going, teenagers and their mother, playing the social dancing circuit around Cork in Ireland to audiences of several hundred at most, come to the attention of and get the seal of approval from one of the world's most popular and influential TV personalities and find themselves performing in Hollywood before an audience of millions.
Unbelieveable, but it's true!
